Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins
Servings: 16
Ingredients
- *1 white onion, chopped
- *2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- *2 jalapeño peppers, halved, seeds and veins removed
- *1 serrano pepper, halved, seeds and veins removed
- *4 cloves garlic
- *1 lime, juiced
- *½ teaspoon salt, or more to taste
- *1 pinch ground black pepper
- *½ bunch cilantro
Directions
Step 1
Put the onion into a large mixing bowl and put it to the side. In a blender, mix together the tomato sauce, jalapeño peppers, serrano, garlic, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Process until smooth. Drop the cilantro in, and pulse the blender a few times to get it chopped up. Be careful not to blend it too much.
Step 2
Combine the tomato sauce mixture with the onions in the bowl, stirring thoroughly. Chill for at least one hour so the flavors can develop before serving.
